West Virginia is arguably the best state to catch small mouth bass. There are various tips you can use to find them easily. Artificial bait that is comparable to minnows or shad will work for attracting the bass. However, in the summer through the fall season the bass likes crayfish so you may want to change the bait that you are using. Once you have the bait though you are going to want to know where to find them.

The South Branch of the Potomac is noted as one of the best places to fish for the bass. The spots starting at the Fisher bridge to Old Fields bridge are known to be some of the best waters. Don’t be surprised if you have company when you visit this area. Summersville and Tygart lakes will also make you a happy angler.

If you are fishing during the summertime it is best to position yourself in shaded areas. The bass steer clear of the sunlight and can also be found under cover. Even though this is the case, what is better than relaxing under the shaded area and fishing?

Before you start fishing, however, you need to verify what the rules are in place for the area you are fishing in. The rules are different. Of course you will also have to get a license to be able to do your fishing.
